Police Sergeant caught extorting money, dismissed

Lagos – The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed a police sergeant who was caught on video demanding N25 000 from a motorist, DailyPostreports.

The video depicted a motorist, who has not been identified, begging with Chris Omeleze, the sergeant, to accept N2000 instead of the N25 000 that Omeleze demanded.

The video went viral and was viewed by Mohammed Abubakar, the Inspector General of Police, who has since ordered for Omeleze’s arrest.

Ngozi Braide, the Police’s Public Relations Officer, has commented that the police are very disappointed at the sergeant’s behaviour and called on the public to always report such crimes.
